10-year lease on new studio premises
We are delighted to share we are on the last stages of signing a lease on the new studio premises less than a mile away from our current site.
We are pleased to announce that we are beginning to build the new studio soon, and will be moving to Deptford, Childers Street within the next several months.
The new studio will mean we can have:
- Improved spacious Open Access Studio for all our members to enjoy.
- Ground floor step free access for easier delivery of artworks and for those less able to cope with stairs.
- Accessible toilet and a baby change.
- No more dark corridors and pallet trucks racing.
- Easier access to transport, including more bus links and 10 minutes walk from New Cross station, while New Cross Gate and Surrey Quays remain similar distance away. We will remain on Cycleway 10 (Waterloo-Greenwich).
- We can deliver on our Net Zero Targets. Our new building has a green roof with solar panels. We will be able to install enough bike racks, and reduce the temptation to use cars. We will be able to start recycling plastics, paper and tins. (We are not stopping at switching to green energy.)
- We will be able to invest into new machinery for the studio, and create dedicated plaster and glaze mixing areas. The longer-term lease allows us to end the time of uncertainty and concentrate on creating a better facility for all of you to enjoy.
- And one more thing… we will be next door to many more local ceramics artists.
