London pottery classes for beginners

We offer regular Throwing Taster Classes for those curious about trying pottery and potter’s wheel for the first time. They are run regularly on Saturday afternoons. There is a one-off glazing workshop available for those who attended a class.

12-week pottery courses

For more in-depth practice, our popular People’s Pottery Classes provide a chance to explore various techniques. These classes are for both beginners and advanced students, running as three 12-week terms throughout the year, with an additional short course offered in August.

People’s Pottery Classes are run on Tuesday night, Thursday Morning, Saturday Morning and Friday Morning.

Short pottery courses

We also offer a regular Throwing on the Potter’s Wheel course, which runs for five weeks in both spring and autumn, and is a good opportunity to focus on potter’s wheel practice with a support of an experienced instructor. All our students make great progress in their throwing technique and create 4-7 finished pieces.

Evening pottery classes

Our most popular evening class is a Tuesday Night People’s Pottery Class, which is run in 3 terms of 12 weeks and as a 6-week short course in Summer. This course is very popular with continuing and new students. If you would like to be notified when bookings open, join our mailing list.

Weekend pottery classes for beginners

Complete beginners who would like to try out pottery with us can joinThrowing Taster Classes, which are usually run on Saturday afternoons. There is a one-off glazing workshop available for those who attended the class. Our 12-week Saturday Morning People’s Pottery Class is also open for complete beginners, and provides step by step instruction and experienced tuition.

Specialist courses – Kiln Training Workshops

We offer in-person Kiln Training workshops for potters, artists and technicians from our ceramics studio in South London. These workshops are highly regarded and attended by makers and technicians from across the county. It is run by our in-house technician with 10+ years of experience serving arts and crafts community. If you would like to learn how to use a kiln, this is the best course to attend.
