How can you help us?
We have been running our ceramics coop studio for 5 month from our new premises at New Cross, and managed to make substantial first steps in making our dream of a professional collective ceramics studio come to live. There are currently 8 inspiring makers working in the studios. There is a growing demand for our classes and services. We have started carrying out commissions for bespoke ceramics and our Open Studios event on December was very well attended! Thank you for buying all little presents from us, and inspiring makers in the studios to do more and go further with their practice.
Here are few things that could help us to grow a professional ceramics studio and a better cooperative:
– If you have a friend or acquaintance who may be interested in having a space for their ceramics practice in South London, please let them know about us. We are an affordable studio with good values where young up and coming ceramicists can gain access to equipment allowing to produce their work.
– If you know South East London based ceramicists, they may be interested in firing service we provide. Kilns are not always easy to access. Please let them know about us.
– If you have a friend who would like to join our People’s Pottery classes, please send them a link to our website. We have spaces at short classes available for booking from February!
– If you know someone who can donate us old or unneeded equipment to improve our ceramics facility, please let them know it would help our good cause in bringing this ceramics studio to higher professional standards.
– If you are a funding body or individual interested in supporting crafts in Britain, and helping innovational makers gain access professional facilities please get in touch with us. We aim to build economically sustainable enterprise, but since it is the start we would appreciate your help in supporting ceramics artists working in London by funding new equipment and specialised artist projects and exhibitions.
We are very grateful for all help and inspirations in making this ethical studios come to live. Thank you all.
Anna and Tatiana.

Towards Christmas – People’s Pottery Autumn Term
It’s exciting time at Ceramics Studio Co-op, and despite it’s not easy to start something this ambitious we have been doing well! Our favourite People’s Pottery classes are running busier and busier, (but not overcrowded). We enjoy sharing fun of working with clay for the first time with some and tricks of the trade with those who already know a lot. Shelves are getting busy, tests are done, and we are about to start glazing!

November is a season of pre-Christmas making and many students and enthusiasts will join classes to make presents for their friends and family. It is both a good deal and great fun. We look forward to share images of things produced!
Further at the beginning of December Ceramics Studio Co-op will host couple of dedicated Christmas making sessions. We are now doing our last experiments on ideas of what could be produced. We do take festive season seriously!
Of course an important dish on our festive menu is pre-planned December Open Studios with finest works from young ceramics artists and makers. Sign up to our newsletter and be first to know the dates.

Collective making | Our opening
We were pleased to meet so many lovely people at the opening of the Ceramics Studio Co-op. It was a joyful evening and we were pleased so many enjoyed it with us, it was a lovely party.
As planned, on the party Ceramics Studio Co-op facilitated making of collective pot about South London. It happened to become a bowl about South London. Anna Baskakova, one of the founding members led the process of co-creation at the beginning. Thanks to everyone who participated!
The bowl is still in progress. We will keep everyone posted.

First People’s Pottery Class at New Cross!
The start of ceramics and pottery classes at new Ceramics studio Co-op rooms at New Cross is a big deal for us! We appreciate all innovators joining us early on our way! Our team used to run classes in Ceramics Studio Bermondsey, so we are not total freshers.
Of course, new premises mean better lighter classrooms and different even better vibes. We also have a great team or ceramics artists starting to work from the studio right now. It means different better workshops in the future.
We will also run weekend Drop-in sessions for limited time, so please come and join us for a day or for one of longer courses if you want to discover a maker in yourself. We totally see this as support of the values we pursue here at Ceramics Studio Co-op, and help in building sustainable community-responsible business.
Pleasure to see many new faces at our Taster Class last week. Thank you all for coming!

Re-building the studio
This is a recent album with photos from our building process. It’s never enough to celebrate our co-op team and friends involved in the studio! We have amazing helpers and work gets done so quickly with a good chat about art and politics. Looking forward to opening the studio for all artists, students and clients.
