  • Halloween Horror Ceramics Workshop

This Halloween there is nothing more frightening than pottery!

    Tutor: Tristan Lathey
    Saturday, 26 October 2019 2-5pm

Wrestle with the evil clay and shape your ultimate fear! Take home your very own piece of iconic 80s horror and learn a new skill.

Tristan Lathey’s porcelain and earthenware pieces modelled for the workshop.

Horror fan and ceramics artist Tristan has 8 years of slab building experience. He primarily makes cute animals which he exhibits in the north of England. He has been working at the Ceramics Studio Co-op since it opened in 2014.

This workshop will be run in a form of a masterclass that is focused on slab-building and decorating complex shapes and characters. Pieces created at the workshop will be glazed and fired in the studio after the class. They will be available for collection in 2-3 weeks.

All materials and firings are included in the price.

  • Tristan Lathey’s Snowdog now on display in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Congratulations to ceramics artist Tristan Lathey on the opening of his piece which is a part of the Great North Snowdog Trail on behalf of St Oswalds Hospice. It will be on display in West Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne until the end of November.

Inspired by legendary New York Latin-soul musician, Joe Bataan, with a simple message ‘It’s your thing’. The artist wanted to create the unescapable vibrancy and individualism that Bataan’s music makes him feel. This Snowdog is a showman!

  • Makers in the Studio

    Makers in the Studio

This is a short overview of the work that has been produced by artists and makers currently working in the studio. We are very proud to work with people displaying such a variety of creative talent and dedication to ceramic media.  It may not be the full presentation of what it going in the studio, and it is just in start in terms of where are we going in terms of the experiment, but we want to give you a change to see at least some results of artist’s effort.

Some work that is presented below can be functional pieces and few of the things can be bought via artist’s personal Etsy shops. Although if you want to enquire about commissions or get in touch with artists – do not hesitate to contact the studio and we would be happy to help.
