Our plates in local restaurant
You can now see plates made in collaboration by coop co-founders Anna and Tatiana in the local park cafe Festa sul prato in Folkstone Gardens, New Cross. We are pleased to be delivering the last part of this commission, and it is a great pleasure to see our wares in use in our neighbourhood, and just a few minutes away from the cooperative studio.
Great thanks to restaurateur Martin Hoenle, and Festa team.

Hack. Make. Create – 28 July 2017
We will be running a clay workshop at Victoria and Albert Museum on 28 July 2017 at the Art Studio in Sackler Centre for arts education.
Join us to make collectively, explore other fantastic maker-spaces, and see ceramics made in the studio by the team of our resident artists.
Check the full programme for the day here.
More than the hobbyists’ pursuit, maker communities are disrupting manufacturing. Shared spaces offer a new amalgam of craft, industry and technology, where both tools and knowledge are pooled. Join London’s maker spaces to resist mass production and uncover how hacked machines and open source design are changing the way we make and live. Explore production process and question whether this a sustainable movement?

18.30-22.00All events are free and places are designated on a first-come, first-served basis, unless stated otherwise. Filming and photography will take place throughout the evening.

Tristan Lathey’s Snowdog now on display in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Congratulations to ceramics artist Tristan Lathey on the opening of his piece which is a part of the Great North Snowdog Trail on behalf of St Oswalds Hospice. It will be on display in West Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne until the end of November.
Inspired by legendary New York Latin-soul musician, Joe Bataan, with a simple message ‘It’s your thing’. The artist wanted to create the unescapable vibrancy and individualism that Bataan’s music makes him feel. This Snowdog is a showman!
Tirstan Lathey have been making work in Ceramics Studio Co-op since September 2014.

Ernesto Torres: Dissenting Room
DISSENTING ROOM 12/11-15/11
Ernesto Torres presents
Dissenting Room
12-15 November 10-6pm
hARTs Lane Studios
PV Thursday 12 November, 6-9pmCoinciding with simultaneous events occurring in London remembering the fifth anniversary of the students’ anti-fees protests, Dissenting Room is a space for expression, discussion and opinion.
Over the last years, Europe has seen turmoil in society with protests and demonstrations against social, political and economical affairs. Masses of refugees come from the Middle East escaping war just to be stopped by a barbed wire, while seven years of cuts and austerity has encouraged the creation of social movements and waves of people trying to change their countries’ political climates and protect social rights.
Ernesto’s works addresses these socio-political issues along with religious topics as well as larger legacies of memory and identity such as diaspora, globalisation and other forms of cultural integration.
Drawing upon traditional craft techniques, Ernesto’s practice is an expanded practice based on the principle of site-specific installation and sculpture, combining ceramics and mixed media.
Working with the idea of traditional tiling, some of his work has strong references to pop art, activist culture and iconography whereas other pieces portray a much more abstract and transcendental message, becoming a cross section of statements.

Here is the quote from festival press release:
We will transform Deptford’s High Street and surrounding historical buildings and areas into a wonderful International festival to showcase our proud History and Heritage.
By zoning areas into a “Village” zone with Classical Music, This will also include what we hope will be the UK’s number one new platform for inspiring Poets both published and new wave.
There will be a separate “Chill out” Blues and Jazz zone, a Performance and a World music stage.
On Monday 4th May we have a giant Street Party on the foreshore, where children will have the opportunity to dress as pirates, whilst building miniature Ships to reflect the Royal Dockyard’s 500 years of Global ship building history.
There will also be a food festival reflecting the 127 cultural groups that call this part of London home.
Another event will be Historical re-enactments with a twist such as on Monday 4th May the Battle of Deptford Bridge and Deptford Broadway with 2000 performers including 12 choirs.

Makers in the Studio
This is a short overview of the work that has been produced by artists and makers currently working in the studio. We are very proud to work with people displaying such a variety of creative talent and dedication to ceramic media. It may not be the full presentation of what it going in the studio, and it is just in start in terms of where are we going in terms of the experiment, but we want to give you a change to see at least some results of artist’s effort.
Some work that is presented below can be functional pieces and few of the things can be bought via artist’s personal Etsy shops. Although if you want to enquire about commissions or get in touch with artists – do not hesitate to contact the studio and we would be happy to help.
