Simin Eivazi is an Iranian born American ceramicist, visual and performance artist currently living and working in London. Her learning of pottery was initiated by her desire to blend art and the everyday, the notions of labour, value and mass production and an interface for maintaining connections with her native millennia old culture. Her ceramics pieces are inspired and influenced by the nature and its organic forms. Through embracing the notions of coincidence, experimentation and (un)predictability, her pieces exist in the threshold between symmetrical and irregular, refined and rustic often covered by earthy glazes.
Simin Eivazi has a BFA in sculpture from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, and as a Jack Kent Cooke scholar, completed her MA in art and politics at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her practice of ceramics started with minimal formal training and is mostly self-taught.
