This 5 session throwing on potter’s wheel course is for those interested in learning how to make and glaze ceramics. It is suitable for all levels, no prior knowledge of pottery is required to attend this class. The course is ideal for beginners or for those who would like to improve their throwing skills. The last session of the course will be dedicated to glazing pots with the wide range of glazes available in the studio.

5 sessions will consist of practical demonstrations and plenty of making time covering:

  • – Clay preparation
  • – Centering
  • – Throwing a variety of shapes
  • – Turning
  • – Slip decoration techniques
  • – Glazing


Our throwing workshops are small, so we are able to give you dedicated support and full access to the equipment while you learn. The class is run with a group of 6 people maximum.

Participants will be able to glaze and collect up to 5 pots.

Clay and a firing for 5 pots made in the class are included in the course price.

Clothing: specialist throwing aprons and tools are provided for the workshop.

Please be aware that ceramics workshop environment can be dangerous for babies, children and pets, and we cannot accommodate their presence in the workshop.

The workshops we run are for adults, young people under 18-years old attendees need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Be aware: long nails can be uncomfortable for throwing on potter’s wheel.

Latecomers will be refused admission, please make sure you arrive to the workshop in time for the start of the session.
